Internship Opportunities at NCERC


Now Accepting Applications for Spring 2018

Want to gain hands-on experience working on a federal research project? The NCERC at SIUE is seeking undergraduate and graduate students in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, and Environmental Studies for an exciting research opportunity. NCERC is looking for SIUE undergrads to work with NCERC staff and top engineers and scientists from the U.S. Department of Energy on a research and training project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor. Each student will be assigned to a team and assist with project design, execution, and data analysis and reporting for research and development of new bioprocess technologies.

Are you studying Mass Comm, Applied Communication Studies, Political Science, Business, or Education? The "bioeconomy" is all around us - and from public relations to education, economics, and public policy, professionals in business and social sciences with experience in communicating STEM concepts are needed. Each student will be assigned to a research team to support a critical aspect of research communication, dissemination, or education. 

  • Interviews begin in December 2017, with projects beginning in Spring 2018
  • Upon acceptance, students must enroll in Research or Internship Course in your major

NCERC Operator and Laboratory in Technician in Training 

Apply Today for Spring 2018 and Summer 2018 Positions

The NCERC Operator and Laboratory Technician in Training Program is a paid, part-time internship experience. The Internship will provide an accelerated opportunity for hands-on training in bioprocess at the pilot plant and laboratory facilities located at NCERC at SIUE.  

The purpose of the internship is to gain on-the-job training to develop the skills and experience needed to obtain an entry-level position in the process operations technology industry, such as biofuels, petroleum, biotechnology, or chemical manufacturing. The program is designed for recent graduates, nontraditional candidates who are changing careers, or highly qualified students in their final semester of study.
